Brickman attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and graduated from Wayne State University in Detroit. She was a resident of Chicago and Highland Park, where she was a member of the North Shore Art League. Brickman's bronze sculptures received many awards and were on exhibit at the Art Sales and Rental Gallery of the Art Institute of Chicago. "She was one of the first women to work in the lost wax process, " said her husband, Paul. The process involved working the original design in wax and having it cast in bronze, he said.
