The Charles Matson Collection: Charles Matson, a master printmaker, worked closely with dozens of prominent American and international artists and amassed a collection of hundreds of original works. Prints, books and paintings have been carefully stored in flat files since the original editions were created. This is a rare opportunity to acquire an original work by an important living artist. In 1952, at the age of 22, Art Hansen received a Pulitzer Prize and hosted his first solo exhibition at the Seattle Art Museum.

In 1953, he received a Fullbright Fellowship, which allowed him to travel overseas where he studied at the Academie de Bilenden Kunste in Munich, Germany. Since 1960, Art Hansen has worked steadily on his art.

Much of his inspiration comes from the natural beauty of Vashon Island; using many different styles, the artist has captured the beautiful surroundings for all to enjoy. Hansen is able to portray the true beauty of the Pacific Northwest through his unique paintings, lithographs, and etchings.
